The intricacies and challenges of neurosurgery really fascinate me. I feel privileged to pursue my passion of treating patients requiring neurosurgical care as a part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team.
I received my neurosurgical training in Leeds, London, Manchester and Liverpool before becoming a Consultant Neurosurgeon in Preston
in the year 2000.
My special interests include spinal conditions, trigeminal neuralgia and endoscopic brain surgery including pituitary tumours.
I am passionate about surgical education and training future Neurosurgeons. My roles extend from examining the intercollegiate Neurosurgical Fellowship exam (FRCS SN) to previously being the Chair of Education Committee of British Association of Spinal Surgeons.
I strive to help my patients improve their quality of life, achieve their wellness goals and support them with their best possible outcome.
My team and I take a holistic approach when treating our patients, rather than solely treating the neurosurgical condition in isolation. We also work to maximize prevention strategies.
I believe assessing the outcome of surgical interventions on a population basis is an integral part of evidence-based medicine. I contribute my data to the National Neurosurgical Audit programme and British Spine Registry (BSR) and also encourage my patients to participate in patient reported outcomes via BSR.
